By Chad Hayduk, Co-Founder & Creative Director, Three Custom Color Specialists, NYC Several major trends showed up on the Fall/Winter runways, but with many differences on color and textur—it just goes to show that anything goes. Here's a rundown of the top trends: Paint the Town in Reds: From intensely bright red lips to deep full-bodied wine shades, all red and varying textures reigned the runway. From retro 80’s matte at Marni and Nina Ricci defined with darker lip liner and filled in with a contrasting tone to intense shine and moisture at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Emporio Armani and Oscar de la Renta. Sheer wine stains from light rose to deep cabernets were found at Louis Vuitton, Vera Wang and Miu Miu. Cat Eyes: The winged up corners on the eyes was everywhere on the runway in all different colors and styles. The undeniably classic 50’s/60’s cat eye in black showed up at Anna Sui, Kenzo and Monique L’Hullier while color flashes in purples and silver-blues showed up at Jason Wu and Christian Dior. Instead of liner, cat eyes were found with smudged dark eye shadows in browns, bronze and steels at Michael Kors, Tracy Reese, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Bare Face: The minimal chic look was also found everywhere. Such designers as Isabel Marant, Akris and Valentino showcased this look. Beautiful matte, powdered flawless skin paired with either a bold lip and no eye makeup or the reverse with a emphasis on a bold eye and bare lip. Orange Shadow: Every shade of the sunset showed up this season sheer color washes to strong accents… from sultry, glossy copper at J. Mendel and Givenchy to brick orange-reds at Prabal Gurung and BCBG; ideal for blue and green eyes making them pop. Glitter: Bling it on! Shimmer in all incarnations showed up this season. At Thakoon there was giant, chunky crystal effects, to Chanel where silver sequins were dotted along the upper lash line for a shimmer effect. A diamond like sheen with a gunmetal creamy shadow base was seen at Donna Karan. Gray Scale: All tones of gray appeared but not as the typical fall smoky eyes of seasons past. Gray lids were full color washes over the entire lid from lashline to browbone to a stormy and foggy effect. Both Derek Lam and Alexander Wang showed this new look. John Galliano went even further taking a gunmetal over the entire lid to a vampy effect.
